Almost every online travel agency or website promises the lowest airfare available. However, when you perform the search on their booking engine, the outcome is different. I know one website, which advertises really extremely cheap airfares, but as soon as I am trying to book a flight, it displays that there is no seats. It happens all the time. I have never found a seat available for advertisement price.

Fortunately there is a way how you can escape from all the noise and get the lowest airfare possible.  The best of all that you can do it anytime you need a flight, as there are not some tricks or secrets behind it.

When you are planning a flight, you should do the research and find, which airline can provide the most convenient and also the lowest airfare available for you. The best way how to do it is by searching in online travel agencies. You can choose any of the biggest – Expedia, Orbit, Priceline or any other.

If the flight you choose is a non-stop flight then you can go directly to the airline website and make a search on its booking engine. If you have several stop flights with different airlines, then you should visit the one, which operates the flight (with codeshare agreements  you can fly with one airline, but actually it is operated by another). Most of the time you will be amazed about the price difference between the airlines website and any other online travel agency. Especially you can see the difference for international flights with several stops.

However, it is not all what you can do. There are also airline consolidators, which works directly with travel agents. Sometimes there can be a situation that airlines do not have available seats for particular flight, but airline consolidators have. This is because they buy blocks (large volume) of tickets, which are distributed via online and offline travel agents. If you discover that the price in an online travel agency and airline website is the same, you can check it with your travel agent. He/she will contact airline consolidators and dependence of airline consolidator your travel agent works with you can get the lowest airfare available.

Airfares are changing so rapidly, especially for popular destinations, then it is very difficult to fix the lowest threshold. Therefore, my suggestion is to start monitor the prices at least 3 months before the flight. With the time and steps described above, you will definitely get the lowest airfare possible.
